‘Painted on a large-scale hand-built canvas, I wanted to capture a sense of the tension and fleeting nature of moments in time. This piece is allegorical in nature and deliberately solid in its form to counter the true nature of the organic reality of the scene. Part of a set of more theatrial works at this point in my life that played on themes of reality and unreality centred around themes of life, death and our place in the world. ‘
Original oil on hand built deep section canvas. 180 × 120 cm. Unframed with painted edges.
