‘I walked into this beautiful moment as I took a morning stroll through woodland close to home. The rising sunlight filtering though the trees created fantastic shadows across the flowers growing in the clearing and throwing the trunks of the trees into silhouette. The resulting contrast of light and shade with pops of colour creates a wonderful semi abstract scene. The power of our nearest star working in harmony with nature to lift the spirit.‘

‘I’m drawn to the bridge of the fallen wood, straddling the tension of the waters surface and breaking the reflected pattern of the canopy and the sky above. I am fascinated by the surface of the water, where the above and below meet in tension. I am drawn to the endless patterns, the reflections, the mirror of the elements.’

‘Celebrating the arrival of my new ‘plein air’ Pochade painting box I set to work on this little gem on a stunningly beautiful summers day. It’s a lovely view across the gardens and toward the hill as it climbs up through Frenchay, capturing the bright sunlight and shadows on the white washed buildings and pantile roofs. ‘
